• Şile fabric has qualities like a special texture for anti-perspiration and an ability to absorb liquids easily. Fabric is manufactured from cotton. Şile fabrics are decorated with various designs and embroideries. Clothes created from this fabric are prepared without spoiling the natural quality of the cloth. Simplicity and comfort in designs come first. Şile fabric tops and shorts, especially in red, beige and white make even hot summer days more fun.

• Cemil Ipekçi in the 14. Şile Fabric Celebrations with his ‘Levni 2001’ collection...
  
  Stating that Şile fabric clothes can be worn easily, especially in the summer, Ipekçi exhibited for the first time his 75-piece collection named “Levni 2001” that he called “part of my thirty years” and including pieces like casual clothes, evening gowns, bridal dresses for the summer of 2001.
   
  Ipekçi informed that he embroidered Şile fabrics using motifs inspired by famous 18. century poet and artist Levni’s motifs in the embroideries and continued “I will show how Şile fabrics can be worn, where, with which evening gown or bluejean with my Levni 2001 collection”. 
  
  He added “In many fashion shows that I participated, I used Şile fabrics which can be worn comfortably especially in the summer in order to promote the fabric in Turkey and all over the world. It was received with great interest. Still, I don’t believe it is in the position it deserves. Therefore I concentrate my work on Şile fabrics”. 
  
  Complaining that Şile fabric – an important part of Turkish textiles – is not considered important enough and drawing attention to the fact that all hand-weaving looms are disappearing, he stated “This fabric which was used to be hand woven in looms is now woven in Güvensan factories. Although it belongs to Şile originally, it is disappearing here. In order to avoid that, in order to re-start these looms, I expect the authorities to take charge”.
  
  
• ‘ Levni 2001’ fashion show sponsored by Vakko was presented by 15 models including Ceylan Saner, Ebru Ürün, Bilge Kara, Asuman Krause, Şenay Akay, Buket Saygı, Burcu Kutluk and Julia Nitu. Traditional Şile Fabric Celebrations are organized by Şile Municipality between 23-30 July every year.
